Healthy Futures' Skills for Life Class
Our Skills for Life Class is based on DBT Skills Training. DBT, or Dialectical
Behavior Therapy, is a highly effective treatment designed to help emotionally
sensitive individuals develop skills to cope with life’s stresses. Members of
our class come from a variety of backgrounds and struggle with different kinds
of problems, including physical illnesses, depression, anxiety, eating
disorders, obsessional thinking, relationship difficulties, self-harm and poor
anger management.
Are your emotions controlling you?
“I’m sad all the time.”
“I try to be assertive, but I get so angry I end up
yelling and saying things I regret.”
“I can’t tell what I am feeling; I just feel numb all of
the time.”
“I want to stop the constant tape playing in my head.”
“I used to be able to control my emotions, but now they
feel so out of control.”
